It's time again for our annual camping trip with our friends. Before I begin....I have to warn you. This post is a long one....but a good one. :)
We went to Rockport this year...and found out WHY it's called Rockport.
We were lucky to get the group site this year so we were all together. It was a lot of fun. We showed up, set up camp, and decided to explore. Here are the "rocky" banks right by our campsite. Here's Gage and Grace hanging out, picking the best rocks they can find, and throwing them in the water. I can't see ANYTHING that can go wrong here...can you?
It never fails. Even rock-throwing gets transformed into a competition.
Here we are, wandering over to our "spot". Crede found a deer shed (but really it was a stick) and carried that around with him for awhile. Chance decided to bring his slingshot and walkie-talkies. Morgan pretty much ignored the slingshot ~ but don't worry ~ she got plenty of use from the walkie talkie.
Handsome Crede.....
I didn't see this one coming (rolling eyes)....Gage fell into the mud and about lost his shoe. His foot came out but he had to reach back in there to pull out his shoe. It was a little tramatic........for Gage.
The next morning we got up, had some breakfast, and decided to look for a beach nearby. We wanted a nice place to sit and play for the entire day.
Here's Grace taking Lilah around on a little walk. This is pretty much what Lilah did the entire camping trip. She complained a lot, but when she walked around, she just wandered aimlessly (so not fun as a Mom) or would just trip and fall. So. I bribed Grace to push her around a little.
Not so much bribed as firmly asked.
We finally found the PERFECT beach. It only had a couple of huge ants that crawled into everything....but they went away once the sun came out and it got warm. Phew!
Lilah had a BLAST aimlessly wandering around. She also liked poking things, eating sand, and sitting in the water. She's such a cute little girl....
Chance and Grace on a canoe ride....
I love this girl.
Yay!! She was so stinking tired.
Crede was FHIL-THEEEEE.
Ha! I love this photo.
So, funny story. This cup was brought up to me on the beach from our friend ~ and he said, "Gage just drank out of this, looked up at me and said, 'mmmmmmmmmm..........chocolate.'". Needless to say, he pretty much and poop issues the entire week.
Ew.
Did I mention that Lilah was enjoying walking around?
Playing....
This was taken the moment after Adalynn was snatched out of the water....... Her Mom and Dad noticed her just in the nick of time, but we were sitting so far from the water that it was the most horrible moments I have ever experienced. She had her life jacket on, but we looked down at the water and noticed that she was face down and couldn't get up. Right after she was rescued, she coughed up a lot of water and then said, "done." It was the most scary thing ever, and I am so thankful that she is okay. We sure love you Adalynn.
Crede caught a fish!! Oh. Wait. It's already dead.
Our third day was a little chilly. I can't remember if it rained....I think it did a little bit. Anyway, we couldn't have another beach-day, so we decided to play "Minute to Win It" games instead. Each family was in charge of planning one game for each of the 6 families up there.
Here are OUR glory-moments.
Grace had to spin around in circles while Morgan held the toilet paper. She did that until the toilet paper roll was gone. She did really good!
Crede had to pull each tissue out (one at a time) until the box was empty...
As you can see, this game required intense concentration. Morgan was all-over it. She had to jump around to get the ping-pong balls out of the box.
This game is HORRIBLE. Horrible. I was "volunteered" (yes I'm using air-quotes there) to do this one. As you can see, it didn't go so well.
Morgan spread vaseline on her nose and then had to transport a cotton ball from one plate to another...without using hands. She did SOOOO good. Way to go bug!
Oh yes. Who can forget the skit. Each year these goof-balls come up with a skit idea. I think last year they did one called "Robot's flipping pancakes". I'm not sure what this theme was....only that Morgan stopped in the middle of it and went to the bathroom. That was supposed to be the highlight of the skit.....I think.
Ah, yes. The last day. It was Gage's birthday! We got up, ate breakfast, and sang "Happy Birthday" to our little 3 year old. He was excited.
I couldn't finish this post without our traditional "group" shots. We had some beauties this year.
Here are my favorite ones of our entire group.....
These are my favorite "adult" shots. What is Ken doing in the bottom one? Who, exactly is he tickling? Gina, if I had time I would insert you in there somehow.....
Us.
All the kids. These crack me up too. They just progressively get crazier and crazier. It makes me smile.
My other favorite. Apparently Chance and I didn't get the memo that we were all doing the "kissie" pose. We thought we were doing the "I'm trying to kill you" pose instead. Oh well...maybe next year I guess.
